In today's world, people are grappling with feelings of isolation, existential uncertainty, and an increasing disconnect from both their communities and personal fulfillment. Traditional government agencies focus on physical health, economic policies, and social services, but human well-being goes beyond just survival, it requires purpose, emotional resilience, and deeper understanding. Thats why Im introducing the Department of Human Experience and Emotions, an initiative designed to address the mental, emotional, and spiritual challenges facing individuals across the nation.
Unlike the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which primarily deals with clinical healthcare and policy enforcement, this department would prioritize existential wellness, emotional intelligence, and national conversations on meaning and fulfillment. Through interdisciplinary collaboration including mental health professionals, spiritual leaders, philosophers, and non-career politicians this initiative seeks to create forward-thinking policies and public programs that nurture human connection rather than just react to crises.
Key Goals of the Initiative Public Engagement & Dialogue Hosting discussions on purpose, fulfillment, and emotional well-being at a national level.
Mental Health & Spiritual Collaboration Bringing together psychologists, religious leaders, and secular philosophers to explore solutions beyond traditional mental health treatment.
Preventative Emotional Education Introducing programs that teach self-reflection, emotional intelligence, and resilience in schools and workplaces.
Grassroots Policy Innovation Welcoming contributions from activists, thought leaders, and everyday citizens, ensuring a diverse perspective beyond political institutions.
Politicians reached out to so far: Bob Ferguson, John Fetterman, Kim Schrier (More to come)
